The holiday home Real Estate market in Italy
The national tourist real estate observatory (FIMAA) in collaboration with the Economic Studies -Nomisma has studied this year the trend of the holiday homes market. After a really difficult 2020 due to the pandemic, this year it seems there is a return of interest in the demand to purchase a holiday home.
Data of 2021 on the holiday homes are based on sales and locations in 111 Italian tourist resorts and highlight an encouraging framework. Compared to 2020 this year seven out- of ten real estate agents have experienced an increase in transactions.
The restrictions on the movement however mean that most of the requests to purchase of holiday home come from Italians. In fact, requests for investments by American, Russians and Northern Europeans have decreased.
As for the costs, the new houses in Italian tourist locations have average prices ranging from Eur2.900 – Eur4.200 per square meter. If we talk about used houses, the prices vary. A resale home central area has an average price ranging from Eur2.110 to Eur3.160 per square meter, while if the house is in the outskirts the prices vary from Eur1.520 to Eur2.200 per square meter.
