Alta Badia, the fatherland of the bicycle marathon, the Dolomites confirmes itself as the home of cycling

Saturday, 21st May 2016 the Giro d'Italia grand tour starting in the Netherlands will reach Alta Badia with stage n. 14. This stage will be a pure mountain marathon and indeed, it will follow the route of the Maratona dles Dolomites Enel.

Starting from Alpago in Belluno, the cyclists will reach Arabba where they will have to climb some of the most impressive mountain passes, such as: Pordoi, Sella, Gardena, Campolongo, Giau and Valparola.

Before reaching the final straight in Corvara, they will face a final hurdle: The "Mür dl giat" (wall of the cat) in La Villa, 400 meters of climb with a gradient of 19%.

In total the athletes will ride 210 km with a total altitude difference of more than 5,000 meters.

On Saturday, 21.05.2016 the roads around Corvara, Colfosco, La Villa and San Cassiano and some Dolomite passes are closed to traffic for the 14. stage of the bicycle classic Giro d'Italia (stage Farra d'Alpago – Corvara).

The single street sections will be closed from at least 2 hours prior to the passage of the athletes.
