Summer 2022 biking events in the Dolomites

 The Sellaronda in summer

In the summer, the tour over legendary passes such as the Gardena, Sella, Pordoi and Campolongo by bicycle is an experience of a lifetime. The route covering 58 km (36.7 mi) and roughly 1,800 metres (5,905 ft) of altitude difference is simply a must for bicycle athletes. You can ride them separately but also experience and enjoy them in the course of one of the popular cycling events.

 

Sellaronda Bike Day

Saturday, 11.06.2022 and 17.09.2022

The cycling day for everyone around the Sella massif

On these dates the roads around of the famous Sellaronda are closed to motorized traffic from 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. and reserved for cyclists.

The Sellaronda Bike Day, the bicycle festival around the Sella Mountain group, has become one of the biggest sporting events in the Dolomites and Alta Badia. In 2021 there were over 10000 participants from all over the World.

Participation in the Sellaronda Bike Day is free of charge and there is no need to pre-register. You can start the route Alta Badia, Val Gardena, Val di Fassa or Arabba/Livinallongo and you can either take it as a sporting challenge or as mountain sightseeing excursion on two wheels. The entire tour is about 53 km and has a total elevation gain of 1600 meters. Highest point at Porta Vescovo 2485 m.

This is a mountain bike tour with unique panoramic views of the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage peaks.

Thanks to the possibility to transport the bikes with the lifts, the mountain passes Gardena, Campolongo, Sella and Pordoi can be easily reached.

 

HERO Südtirol Dolomites

For thrill seekers this is a key event in the Dolomites. The HERO Südtirol Dolomites cycling event in Selva Val Gardena represents one of the hardest mountain bike events for amateurs and professionals. The competition is fierce and spectacular.

 All participants can choose between two distances stretching around the Sella pass and Sassolungo mountain:

The classic distance comprises 60 km and 3,200 m elevation gain.

The marathon distance boasts 86 km and a total of 4,500 m elevation gain.

The route: uniquely beautiful and incredibly hard

Both the start and the end of the HERO Dolomites is at Selva Val Gardena. The location is a beloved holiday destination in summer and winter too. Both the classic and marathon edition of the cycling event will take participants around the Sella Pass, at the feet of the legendary skiing carousel, the Sellaronda. Participants have to be very committed to the race due to the length and the impressive elevation.

 

Hero Kids bike event

The day before the HERO Südtirol Dolomites cycling event for adults, even children can challenge their fitness level. The HERO Kids cycling event starts at Selva Val Gardena, is a friendly ‘competition’ where the children can have fun on two wheels.

 

Enduro World Series (EWS) event in Val Di Fassa Trentino

25 & 26 June 2022

This stunning venue nestled high in the Italian Dolomites became an instant rider favourite when it first appeared on the calendar in 2019, featuring long, physical stages amongst some of Europe’s most dramatic terrain. It’s become a modern classic and will make its third outing in 2022.

This year’s EWS event promise to be an unforgettable event with top number of professional teams at the starting point. There are 47 teams with 187 participants from over 20 nations Worldwide taking part with mountain bikes and electric mountain bikes.

 The event stretches over 2 days and offers to its participants astonishing views of the Dolomites. It is organised by the Fassa Bike group, local Tourist board and the SITC ski lift society.  The route is one of the highest and most enduring ever and the best bikers and speed experts take part. The Fassa Valley and Canazei as UNESCO Hertitage location are one of the most prestigious locations one could wish for such an event. The racetrack is released only 1 week before the event and the participants will be given a chance a day before the kick off to practice endure some of the challenges of the route.
