Budapest one of the top 10 destinations chosen for retirement

Live and Invest Overseas has collected 10 of the best destinations for pensioners in 2017. The cities were examined according to 13 criteria, and Budapest was chosen among the top 10. Budapest is praised for its historical and architectural values, as well as for the fact that it is relatively cheap.

As per the Overseas Retirement Index annually, the destinations are put into thirteen different categories based on what pensioners and retirees consider to be the most important factors when choosing a city to live in. These are cost of living, crime and safety, English spoken, entertainment, environmental conditions, expat community, health care, infrastructure, recreation, residency options and taxes, real estate affordability, restrictions on foreign ownership.

Budapest is praised primarily for its rich history and old, wonderful architecture, along with the fact that all of the modern conveniences are at your disposal. The city is described as 'one of Europe's loveliest capitals' and all its nicknames are listed here, which reveal the most characteristic traits of Budapest: the Heart of Europe, the Pearl of the Danube, the Capital of Freedom, of Spas and Thermal Baths and of Festivals.

The Hungarian capital performed especially well in two categories: entertainment and infrastructure.

Of all the wonders of Budapest, diversity is highlighted, referring to education, finances, quality of life, economy and innovation. Budapest is listed as one of the best destinations to enjoy quality entertainment: you can visit galleries like the Museum of Fine Arts or enjoy a show at the Hungarian State Opera House.

Budapest is also complimented for its infrastructure. It is emphasised that it's quite easy to travel from and to Budapest via plane and train. Some of the reasons why Budapest is a good choice are the transportation and communication systems. It is mentioned that the city is the country's financial and economic centre, where everything is within a reach of a hand whether it is a place to hang out, a specific food you're craving for, or just great internet connection to keep in touch with your friends and relatives.

The article argues that these destinations are best if you are looking to 'reinvent your life, chase adventure, have a great time and reduce your cost of living dramatically'. These places are ranked according to how well they meet the thirteen criteria.
