Autumn in the Dolomites- scenic nature walking trails in North of Italy

The hiking area in and around Alta Badia offers many attractive destinations

The vast hiking area around Alta Badia includes more than 400 km ( 249 mi) of carefully groomed and perfectly signposted hiking trails on elevations between 1,200 and 3,250 metres (3,937 - 10,662 ft). Its central location makes Alta Badia the ideal starting point for many legendary mountain tours in the Dolomites.

Easy walks in the basin, unhurried pasture hikes, hikes in the UNESCO World Heritage natural parks Puez-Odles and Fanes-Senes-Braies taking several days or high alpine tours and summit ascents: experience the whole diversity of hiking in Alta Badia.

Hiking in Alta Badia in the South Tyrolean Dolomites means a large variety of path amidst flowery meadows, shaded forests, sunny highlands and unique mountains to conquer.

Lifts and buses take you comfortably to the hiking trails on sunny plateaus or the starting points of more challenging hikes. Inviting mountain huts provide food and drinks for your gastronomical well-being.

The tourism association of Alta Badia offers weekly guided tours with experienced guides - an excellent option to explore the diversity of the hiking trails in and around Alta Badia. In autumn one can enjoy the wonderful changing colours of the forest with plenty of sunshine and crispy fresh mornings.

One of the most picturesque walks in autumn is the larch forest trail starts in San Cassiano and passes by the farms of Rü and Larscëi until the Rudiferia farm where you meet a characteristic, recently restored and perfectly functional water mill. The trail, which was set up thanks to the work of the natural parks office of the Province of Bolzano, winds through larch forests and alpine meadows at the foot of the Fanes – Senes – Braies natural park.
As well as its beautiful views of the countryside, the route also gives hikers the chance to admire some interesting man-made creations that are in perfect harmony with the natural surroundings, such as the characteristic fences of the alpine region, the dry stone walls and the water mill referred to above. Along the trail a series of panels give important information about plants and shrubs and on the fauna and geology of the Dolomites area.

We have a variety of luxury and bargain-rental and sale properties in the Dolomites area and our staff is on hand to assist with finding you the appropriate residence in this exceptionally beautiful part of Italy all year round.
